Zing Tip #2: Your Monitor Won’t Be Displayed on Roadsides

I’ve seen many yard signs that must have looked nice on a computer monitor 10 inches from the designer’s face. But that doesn’t always translate when that design is put onto a yard sign meant to be seen by drivers and pedestrians.

Don’t cover every inch of space with words. The fewer words, the better for quick reading. Make the type large enough to be read from a distance. Share a website URL and /or QR code where a person can get more details. When using multiple colors, make sure the type color will contrast with a background color. Red on blue is not easy to read.
